Utah requires owners of motorboats over 50 hp and of every personal watercraft to carry 25/50/15 or $65,000 combined (Utah Code § 73-18c-301). Lake Powell and Flaming Gorge marinas add their own terms.

Most states attach no insurance rule to small unlicensed jobs, but Utah requires liability insurance above $3,000. Unlicensed limits by state: $1,000 in CA, AZ, NV and OR, $2,500 in FL, $7,000 in UT.
